Sobhabazar Rajbari
Pandal Overview
Founded in 1757 by Raja Nabakrishna Deb to celebrate Lord Clive’s victory at the Battle of Plassey, Sobhabazar Rajbari is Kolkata’s most iconic Bonedi Bari (aristocratic family) Puja. Steeped in history, it preserves centuries-old rituals including the traditional Ekchala idol, cannon firing salutes, and releasing Neelkanth birds on Dashami.
Located in North Kolkata, Sobhabazar Rajbari draws festival visitors every year for its artistic installation work and traditional Kolkata Durga Puja rituals.
